Salida Hot Springs and Buena Vista Hot Springs |
| The Upper Arkansas Valley is a hotbed of geothermal activity, forgive the pun. These three facilities are open to the general public.
Mount Princeton’s 300-foot long waterslide is the ultimate kid magnet. Do-it-yourselfers enjoy heading to the creek to move river rocks around to create individually-stylized and temperature-controlled creek-level soaking pools. Everyone else is invited to lounge along the sundeck and dip in and out of the pools as whim dictates. Newly-constructed log cabins are a terrific option for groups; couples can choose lodge, cliffside or poolside rooms. |

Cottonwood Hot Springs is an adult-oriented facility focused on the healing aspects of the water, various therapies and a soothing atmosphere. The original hotel and sanitarium built in 1878 burned down in 1911 and is replaced today by a rustic lodge and creekside cabins. Mountain goats and bighorn sheep are frequent visitors so pets must be kept on a leash.
Salida’s municipal Hot Springs Aquatic Center on US 50 is a favorite place to play. The zero-depth wading and soaking pool is handicap-accessible and toddler-friendly. The cooler 25-meter pool is great for lap swimming, diving or just splashing around. |
